Silver Wedding Anniversary with a difference!!

This is my first BIG special commission and it had me really worried I can tell you! EEKS!!

I have done scrapbooking before, but only ever for me and my family, never for someone else.

The man in the photos wanted to do 'something different' for his wife for their 25th wedding anniversary, and this is what we came up with (it was a conspiracy you see).

We chose the K and Co Madelline range for this, 12x12 papers, matt pack, rub-ons and journaling labels. The other 'bits and bobs' are just stuff from my stash! Except the gold ribbon and bow from the first wedding page, that came from a box of chocolates!! lol.

Anyway, he kind of gave me a 'free hand' with this project and I'm glad he did really, because as the couple are Indian I would have really struggled in places. Still I think I've covered all the bases, and judging by the phone call I received after he presented it to her, everyone was thrilled to bits!!

I have now been asked to add to it later on when the sons graduation photos are done, so this is going to be an ongoing project.

I can now relax a bit knowing it went down well and everybody liked it.

Apologies for the pictures though, these things are not really that easy to photograph, and I did my best.

I feel I still have a lot to learn on the Scrapbooking side of things, so I'll keep doing 'research' and playing with mini albums, untill I get better at it.

Not bad for a 'proper' first attempt though, even if I do say so myself! lol.

Christmas shaker box!

I've had loads of fun today making this cute shaker box!

First of all It's actually a Sizzix Bigz XL die and part of a Medallion treasure box stamp!

I stamped out the poinsettia three times then coloured it using Twinkling H20s, I then cut out the flowers then mounted two layers inside the box, I put star shaped giant sequins inside the box then glued it together, I then stuck the last layer onto the front of the box over the top of the acetate, I just added some peel-offs, a piece of gold ribbon and a gold 'flower' to finish it all off.

This die has tons of uses and when I saw it my brain went into overdrive! You can be rest assured I'll be having a play with this again!!

Here's just a quick project that I did while I still had the Alcohol Inks and paints out from the previous project.

I bought these plain wooden bangles from The Artisitc Stamper yonks ago and still had a couple lying waiting to be decorated.

So, I painted the whole thing with Antique Gold Acrylic Paint from Blonde Moments, then when it was dry I used Terracotta and Gold alcohol inks over the top of that, then blended it all together to soften it a little.

I then inked up a little 'stitched' background stamp from Paper Artsy with black Stazon and rolled the bangle onto the stamp, I inked up the 'numbers' stamp but instead of rolling the bangle onto the the stamp I left it unmounted and just 'moulded' to the side of the bangle.

I'm not really sure if I like the end result or not, but it's not a problem because all I'll need to do to change it is just to cover the whole thing in alcohol inks to cover up the previous design!

but I'll leave it the way it is for now and see what goes.

Alcohol inks and stamps!

YAY!!! I've finally had the chance to have a play in my new craft room!!

I've had this little wooden box in my possession for quite a while now and decided it was time I finally did something with it!

So I painted it with the Blonde Moments Acrylic paint range, Antique Gold to be exact, then covered the whole thing with Ranger Alcohol Inks, lovely and messy!

I used The Artistic Stampers Retro range stamps for the 'pocket watch', key and phrase.

I stamped the watch onto glossy card which had been inked over with the alcohol inks, then I used Glossy Accents to give the watch a 'face', it makes it look like glass. I just stamped the key and the phrase straight onto the box.

The letters forming the word 'stuff' are from a plain white chipboard alphabet which has been inked and then 'sealed' with clear embossing powder! I just thought it gave the word a bit of oomph!

The little sqaure tile is a chipboard blank tripple embossed with bronze embossing powder and then stamped into while still hot.

The watch chain is just a piece of gold cord stuck down in various places with a couple of odd gold and black buttons.

My shiny new craft/bedroom....

Well it's been ages in the making but here it is at last!!!

Taaaa Daaaa.........




My shiny new craft space!! YAY I can finally get organised! So much better than this don't you think.....just click on the pictures for a btter look....




Anyway what I did?....well, the black units are kitchen units from Ikea, as is the metal pole, the cutlery 'beakers' and the spice rack! I just adapted them to suit...The counter top was from the kitchen I had in this house when I moved here so before the guys fitted my present kitchen i just asked them not to chuck it away and recycled it. I have so much more space for all the bigger stuff I have, i.e. my big shot, bind it all, and the dream kuts machines as well as more storage place for my stamp folders, I'm really pleased with the end result of this as I just wasn't sure if it would look really 'kitchen' like. So there you go...just because they are kitchen units doesn't mean they need to be used in the kitchen! lol.!

I still have a few bits and pieces to finish off, but will need to wait until my friend has some spare time at the weekend, I've still got the handles to put on the units and don't want to risk doing that myself as I have to drill holes and knowing me I'll probably get it sooo wrong!

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, incase anyone is interest the Wall paper is a gorgeous Charles Rennie Macintosh Rose, I struggled with a paint to match but was really lucky to spot that green, you would actually think it was made to match the paper! I'm not usually a 'green' person, but was pleased with the result.

more digi scrapbooking

This time it's one of my son.

Now this picture means so much to me! It was the first major karate competition he entered and he won his category! So I just had to do something very special with it.

I really do adore this programme.....I'm telling you! It's the best thing since sliced bread!!! Even more so because I am NOT the best person when it comes to computers, it is just so simple to use, and very VERY addictive, so if you ever consider buying the Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist it's the best investment you will EVER make.....but......be warned!! All you'll want to do is play!!!

Digital Scrapbook Artist...a special friend

I made this page for a very special friend of mine, he has been so kind and sweet to me over the past few weeks by being my shoulder to cry on. Basically it is just a small Thank You gift.

The re-decoration and organisation of my craftroom/bedroom is coming along nicely, but I had to stop for a while yesterday as I have units that need fitting, and there just isn't enough room for more bodies, so while they were getting 'sorted', I ended up playing with the Digital Scrapbook Artist, seeing as all my 'hands on' stuff is still packed away in boxes! eek! I do so adore this programme....it's just so so simple to use and boy am I glad I spent the £80 on it! Worth every penny!
