WOYWW 140

Morning Everyone! Well my desk is suitably 'creative' this week again! :o ... Starring this week is the battered old green 'practice journal' a place for storing andf trying out ideas...A box of inexpensive (sounds a wee bit more glamorous than cheap) acrylic paints and a new journal...this one is going to be for my 'good' work !! (hopefully)!!!  That old wee brown hardback book is for an online workshop that I'm taking part in and it's for an Altered Book! I haven't done one of these yet so I'm REALLY looking forward to taking part! It's going to be fun! :)

Here's some details of my 'new' purchases ... the new Art Journal.... I love the size of this, and it's decent weight paper too, Also like the fact that it has the 'elastic strip' to help keep it closed!! £2.99 from a discount book store on the high street! :)

and here's the other purchase......

A box of small tubes of acrylic paints.... 20 tubes for £4.99 from the same store!... I do prefer to use the Golden range but sadly my purse doesn't!! Hey ho...it's all about the fun in the end!!

Right, that's me done for now, so if you fancy having a nosey around everyone else's workdesk then pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground and have a wee peep!

Take care and have fun!

Happy WOYWW

I like that same discount store too - in fact, I've bought the very same paints from there!! Whatcha gonna do with them then??
I think you should use your lovely new book for everything you do, not keep it for best. Because it then becomes like your 'best' set of china, when it only comes out for high days and holidays, and you only use it once or twice a year. Use it everyday and LOVE it!

You have some great buys there. I see you are in on the altered book too. Have fun with that. I suspect that in the end you'll find your "practice journal" filled with all sorts of wonderful things and maybe even like it better than the real one! Happy creating!

Have you heard of Utrecht acrylics? They are as nice as Golden but less expensive! But either way, have fun painting!!

Your work desk looks like the perfect place to create! And those art journal pages are fab. New journals are like a blank canvas sometimes...kinda intimidating yet inviting! dix---

Hi,
I love your desk, looks like there are lots of interesting things at hand to use for your projects. I need to look out for similar inexpensive acrylics for art journalling too. I did see some very reasonably priced art materials on the internet but I seem to have lost the link(!) If I find it again I'll let you know :)

Which course are you taking for the altered book? It sounds interesting.

i much prefer to have a practice first. I am not very good at art so i like to try things out first. If i like it then i use it if I don't the i just won't use it.

Your new purchases are great. I'm a sucker for journals of all kinds. I use the cheaper acrylic paints and they work for me. I use other Golden products like their modeling paste, gesso and mediums.

Your desk looks nice and inviting!

Ooh, I've always wanted to do an altered book... but never figured out how! Might have to do a search for courses so I can try too!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I'm interested to find out the details for that 'Block crochet' book that you mentioned. Any chance you could let me know the author and title please? Thanks!

I love a bargain and as long as you can play and sort of get the same results i know i am happier paying less for it, that way you can spend more money on the really expensive things that you 'NEED'. I didn’t make it, to everyone’s crafty space on Wednesday so doing my snooping today,
Hope you have a great week x Lou x @#103

I imagine she went to The Works - I love that shop! I really want to get a journal, but not sure what to do with one, so will continue looking around on-line and being nosy. Ali x # 94
